the future of hypertag
Proximity marketing specialist Hypertag is launching a new tag that it claims will take user generated content into the out of home market. Hypertag has traditionally enabled advertisers to transfer information to consumers via Bluetooth. The information that can be stored on Hypertag has so far been limited by the tag storage capabilities and the bandwidth of Bluetooth. Both these factors now do not represent a problem.
The new Tag will enable users to upload content from their mobile phones via Bluetooth. Content can then be displayed via big screen displays. The obvious applications are for UGC activity at events and experiential marketing promotions. Festival advertisers could encourage visitors to upload pictures or videos onto big screen displays that can then be shared amongst peers. Competition entries could be used as the encouragement which then results in mobile data capture for the advertiser.
The first use of the technology is scheduled for this summer at a number of music festivals. It is then likely that the technology will be used in large music venues across the country. There is no cost to the consumer for the use of Bluetooth.
